I am going to share my Lagos playlist with you guys.
These are some of the songs that make me think fondly of this city I love to hate, songs that help me go through when Lagos decides to be silly, songs that make me laugh when I sit with my friends at Freedom park, songs I listen to when I am away from Lagos and I just smile.
Here they are in no particular order:
Aduke- Made in Lagos: Aduke is one of my favourite singers. Made in Lagos is the story of most people who migrated to Lagos, this city will take its pound of flesh.
Jimmy Jatt ft 2face, Mode 9, Elajoe- Stylee: This song is one of the best rap songs that describes this Lagos wey we dey so
Brymo- Eko: This amazing singer who sang to Lagos whom he described as a fine baby, dark and lovely, nwa sisi
Brymo -1 pound: One pound isn’t particularly a Lagos-themed song but it makes me think of Lagos whenever I listen to it, so here.
Asa- Eyo: No words, just listen and enjoy
Darey Ft. Flavour- Sisi Eko Remix: Dare and Flavour teamed up to put into music the way Yoruba demons will bother any sisi eko they find attractive in this Lagos
Wizkid- Ojuelegba: this song really really exploded now the whole world knows Ojuelegba
Fela- Eko Ile: can one have a Lagos playlist without our Baba in it? Enjoy Eko Ile
Lagbaja- Owo Eko: another legend one cannot ignore. I found some kids who thought Davido invented “no do gra gra for me.” SMH. This life. Schooled them on the mask wearing legend, by the time I was done they were shaking their little butts to “konko below.”
Banky W– Lagos Party Rmx: there really is no party like a Lagos party.
