LiveTheatreLagos has announced an adjustment in the programme for the July edition of its theatre festival that was to stage Wole Soyinka’s The Lion and The Jewel on July 10th and 11th. The July Theatre Festival, which was to hold over two-weekends will now only feature Tunde Ojoobaro’s Oluronbi The Musical. On July 18 by 3 pm and 6 pm.
The organising team said in a statement that they are postponing the production of The Lion and The Jewel till further notice due to significant inadvertent financial constraints, and its commitment to keeping their shows free and accessible to all.
However, the statement continued, the other scheduled play, Oluronbi the musical will hold on only the 18th of July, 2021, by 3 pm and 6 pm.
“Please note that the play will NOT hold on the 17th of July, 2021, as was announced earlier. If you already registered for Olúrónbí the musical, for the 17th or 18th, you can still use your ticket for the shows on the 18th. But if you made a reservation for the 17th, you will need to register for the 18th instead. New reservations can be made on our website, www.livetheatrelagos.info,” the team explained.
What is more, the two shows are free to those intending to attend who must however reserve a seat beforehand.
The purpose of the entire festival, which the organisers said expects more than 4000 persons to attend, is to propagate the arts and culture of Lagos and Nigeria, and harness cultural and social education, provide fun in a COVID-19 Compliant atmosphere.
