A 23-year-old man, Joshua Olaoye, on Tuesday appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a cell phone worth N89,000.
Olaoye, who resides at Aboru, Lagos State, appeared on a count charge of stealing.
He, however, pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Ejiro Kubeinje.
The prosecutor, DSP Kehinde Ajayi, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Feb. 3 at 9 p.m. at No 67 Victor Fagbemi Road, Aboru, Lagos State.
Ajayi said that the accused trespassed into a church belonging to Pastor Jimmy Ilumomi and stole the Infinix Hot 10 Android phone kept there.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened sections 287 of the criminal law of Lagos state, 2015.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the section provides three years imprisonment for offender.
Kubeinje granted the accused bail in the sum of N150, 000 with two sureties.
She ordered that the home and office addresses of the sureties must be verified.
The magistrate adjourned the case until March 28 for hearing. (NAN)
