A 34-year-old man, Seyi Kehinde, was, on Monday, arraigned before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly stealing N308,000.
The defendant, whose address was not given, is being tried on a count charge of stealing.T
he Police Prosecutor, ASP Clement Okuoimose, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Jan. 15, at about 2:00 p.m. at Seme Border area of Badagry.
Okuoimose said that the defendant stole the sum of N308,000 from the complainant, one Mrs Hadiza Bello.
According to him, the offence contravenes Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Fadahunsi Adefioye, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000, with two sureties in like sum.
Adefioye ruled that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and provide evidence of tax payment to Lagos Government, as part of the bail conditions.
He, thereafter, adjourned the case till March 8 for mention. (NAN)
