Man arrested in Lagos for allegedly punching fun seeker to death (Guardian)
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested Philip Ogbuehi for allegedly punching a fellow fun seeker to death during a dispute at a lounge in the Ogidan area of Sangotedo, Lagos.
Reports indicate that the suspect and the deceased (name withheld) had a minor altercation over the right of passage in the lounge, which escalated into a heated argument and physical confrontation.
During the incident, Ogbuehi allegedly delivered several deadly blows to the deceased, who reportedly slumped. Onlookers rushed the victim to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending medical practitioner. (Read more)
Lagos shuts 5 orphanages over baby trafficking, child rights violations (TheNation)
The Lagos State government has shut five orphanages in the last one year for offences ranging from baby trafficking to violations of the State Child Rights Law of 2015.
Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, made this known in Ikeja yesterday during the Ministerial Press Briefing to commemorate Governor Babajide Sanwo-Oluโs second year.
He said the closures were part of the ministryโs efforts to clamp down on illegal practices and safeguard the rights of children across the state. (Read more)
EFCC arrests 120 suspected internet fraudsters in Lagos (Vanguard)
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 120 suspected internet fraudsters, 95 male and 25 female in Lagos.
Its Spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, said this in a statement on Monday in Abuja. According to him, the suspects were arrested on Monday in different locations in Lagos. He said the arrest was sequel to credible intelligence and thorough surveillance regarding their alleged involvement in internet-related fraud.
โItems recovered during the coordinated operation include 26 exotic cars and expensive jewellery, smartphones, laptops and several incriminating documents. (Read more)
Police arrest dispatch rider who bolted with Zamfara-bound medical equipment (Vanguard)
The Zonal Anti-Crime Unit of the Zone 2 Command, Onikan Lagos, has arrested a dispatch rider, Matthew Adoche, for allegedly stealing medical equipment worth millions of naira.
Adocheโs arrest followed a petition by Dr. Ajefolakemi John, a medical doctor from Iloromu Quarters, Ile-Ife, Osun State. The petitioner said Adoche was contracted on April 15, 2025, to deliver medical equipment from Ikotun and Ikeja, Lagos, to Idumota area of the state, for onward delivery to a client in Zamfara State.
The suspect, according to him, allegedly made away with the equipment and went into hiding, switching off his phone lines. (Read more)
Police arrest suspect for blackmailing 30 men using nude video calls in Lagos (Guardian)
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 22-year-old man, Malik Opeyemi, for allegedly blackmailing 30 victims between January and May 2025.
Opeyemi, who was apprehended by detectives from the Area F Command, is accused of posing as a woman online to lure unsuspecting men into making nude video calls, which he subsequently used to extort money.
The suspect was arrested on May 16, 2025, in Oyo State following a complaint from one of his victims, and was transferred to Lagos for further investigation. (Read more)

Suspected Lagos cultists kill shawarma vendor (Punch)
Some yet-to-be-identified gunmen suspected to be cultists have killed a popular shawarma vendor identified simply as Benjamin at Ebutte-Ipakodo, in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State.
The victim, also known as Benji, was the owner of the popular Chibest Shawarma in the community.
