A Lagos High Court sitting at Tafawa Balewa Square, on Tuesday, sentenced a man, Temitope Olowo, to 14 years jail term for attempted robbery.
Olowo was sentenced on a count amended charge of attempted robbery, after a plea bargain application was made.
He was first arraigned on Nov. 9, 2018, on a three-count charge bordering on armed robbery but he pleaded not guilty.
But the defendant, through his counsel, Mrs J. I. Osagede, filed for a plea bargain agreement and the charge was amended.
At the resumed hearing on Tuesday, the Prosecution Counsel, Mr Olayemi Shofolu, informed the court about the one-count amended charge.
Shofolu told the court that the defendant committed the offence on July 26, 2017, at No 1/3, Akowonjo St., Lagos.
According to him, the defendant attempted to rob one Mr Desmond Ifeanyi of his personal belongings.
He said that the offence contravened Section 298(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendant pleaded guilty to the charge.
Justice Yetunde Adesanya, however, found Olowo guilty as charged and sentenced him to 14 years at a correctional facility.
Adesanya ordered that the sentence would take effect from Oct. 16, 2017, the day the convict was remanded. (NAN)
