Man docked over alleged N2.7m fraud

A 39-year old man, Kajola Mohammed, was on Wednesday docked in an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State, for alleged N2.7 million fraud.

The defendant was arraigned on two-count charge of obtaining money by false pretence and conversion.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.The Prosecutor, Dr Simon Uche, told the court that the defendant committed the offence in August.

He said that the defendant obtained the amount from one Olatunde Abdul-Gafar, with a promise to help him purchase a Scannia Truck from America.

According to the prosecutor, the presentation was false as the defendant never bought the truck but rather converted the money to his own use.

He said that the offences contravene the provisions of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.

The Magistrate, D.S. Odukoya, granted the defendant bail for N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case until Oct. 30 for trial. (NAN)
