The Director-General, Lagos State Safety Commission, Mr Lanre Mojola, stated this on Monday during a workshop for facility management companies in Alausa, Ikeja.
He said, “This topic focuses on tall buildings and according to Section 202 of the International Building Code which is recognised globally, any building from 75 feet (22,860 metres) and above is regarded as a tall building. Tall buildings are unique because they have their distinct ways of management from a regular building and this is due to the hazards that are embedded within them.
“It is important that facility managers have a general understanding of risk assessment of tall buildings. There are issues with ventilation and air conditioning in tall buildings, particularly in the hot climate we are in, causing distress to occupants. We also have issues with electrical fault testing, water safety, and leadership commitment to safety.” Read more

Nicki Minaj makes history as ‘Super Freaky Girl’ soars to No. 1 spot on Billboard Hot 100 (USAToday)
Nicki Minaj’s week is certainly off to a “super” start.
Minaj’s track, “Super Freaky Girl,” which samples Rick James’ 1981 classic “Super Freak,” debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. It’s the first solo female rap track to debut atop the chart since Lauryn Hill’s “Doo Wop (That Thing)” back in 1998. Hill’s debut and sole solo album, “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill,” also entered number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart.
James’ original release never even cracked the top 20, peaking at 16. Then in 1990, M.C. Hammer sampled “Super Freak” for the Grammy-winning “U Can’t Touch This.” But while the emcee nailed down the top spot on the Billboard Hot Rap Songs chart, the song only went as high as eight on the Hot 100.
The Billboard Hot 100 factors in total consumption via digital downloads, streams and radio airplay. The 89,000 digital downloads that “Super Freaky Girl” notched marked the biggest digital sales week of any track this year. Read more
Young Thug hit with $6m lawsuit from AEG Presents as Rico case looms (HipHopDX)
Young Thug (real name Jeffery Williams) will have to contend with a giant lawsuit in 2023 in addition to his pending Racketeer Influenced & Corrupt Organization Act (RICO) case. According to court documents obtained by AllHipHop, the incarcerated rap star is being sued for nearly $6 million by concert promoter AEG Presents.
The company is seeking the return of a $5 million advance for the exclusive rights to all of Young Thug’s concerts. In December 2020, AEG claimed Thugger signed an agreement in 2017 that came with the exorbitant advance, but he allegedly breached the contract.
AEG claimed even with the rights to Young Thug’s concerts, he continued booking shows on the side for hundreds of thousands of dollars in performance fees.
As AEG lawyer Kathleen Jorrie explained, “Despite having granted AEG the exclusive right to promote Mr. Williams’ concert performances under the terms of the 2017 Artist Agreement, YSL and Mr. Williams immediately failed and refused to honor their respective obligations under the 2017 Artist Agreement by, among other things, disregarding AEG’s rights, performing concerts without AEG’s involvement, and retaining all proceeds generated therefrom.” Read more
