A 20- year-old unemployed man, Wusha Mustapha, on Thursday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for alleged stealing armoured cable valued at N400,000.
The defendant who lives at Ayobo, Lagos, is being tried for conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecutor, ASP Clara Olagbayi, told the court that the offences were committed on April 30, at Cele-Apata area, Ayobo, Lagos.
Olagbayi said the defendant, and one other at large, were caught stealing the armoured cable valued at N400,000, property of Cele Apata Community Development Association (CDA).
The prosecutor said the defendant and his other accomplice ran away but the defendant was later arrested when he came again to steal.
The offences, according to the prosecutor, contravene Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Magistrate, Mrs O. A Odubayo granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until June 26 for mention. (NAN)
