Man stabs wife to death in Lagos (Vanguard)

The Police Command in Lagos State has arrested a man for allegedly stabbing his 38-year-old wife to death.

The command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident to newsmen on Thursday in Lagos.

Hundeyin said that the incident happened on Wednesday, at Oke-Ira, Ilogbo Eremi in the Badagry area of the state. (Read more)

Police arrest 4 over N277.8m bank fraud (TheNation)

Operatives of the Lagos Police Command have arrested four suspects, including two bank employees, over alleged £138,924 (N277,848,000) bank fraud.

The suspects identified as Shuaib Oluwatobiloba Olaleye, 27; Oladunjoye Adegoke, 33; Austin Alfred, 38, and Jude Uzobuaku, 36 were arrested between March 12 and 13 over their alleged involvement in the illegal transfer of the amount from the domiciliary accounts of international airlines domiciled in the affected commercial bank.

According to the police, the suspect allegedly moved the money from the accounts of the real owners into the domiciliary account of a former employee of the bank before collecting the money. (Read more)

Businessman arraigned for failing to declare $299,000 collapses in court (Punch)

A businessman, Sunday Okorie, collapsed in court on Wednesday while standing in the dock.

Okorie had been arraigned before the Federal High Court in Lagos on Tuesday for allegedly failing to declare $299,000 and being in possession of counterfeit foreign currency.

Justice Deinde Dipeolu had ordered Okorie to be remanded after he pleaded not guilty on Tuesday. The judge then adjourned the trial to Wednesday. (Read more)

Man in court for allegedly stealing employer’s N5m boat (Guardian)

The police on Wednesday arraigned a 24-year-old boat operator, Segun Zamezu, before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly stealing his employer’s fibre boat worth N5 million.

Zamezu, whose address was not provided, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, ASP Edet Ekpo, told the court that the defendant committed the offences with some others still at large on Feb. 25, at Isalu Waterside area of Badagry. (Read more)

5 charged in false allegation against Lagos monarch (Punch)

The police on Monday arraigned five men before the Lagos State High Court in Tafa Balewa Square for allegedly making a false statement of criminal allegation to the police against the Elegushi of Ikate land, Oba Saheed Elegushi.

The defendants who were arraigned before Justice Ibironke Harrison are  Adeigbagbo Harrison, Prince Toluwoleke Megba, Harrison Soji, Megbalewon Adeniji James and Segun Ekomale (Ikuomola).

The defendants whose residential addresses were not given are facing eight counts bordering on conspiracy, making false statements, and impersonation preferred against them by the police. (Read more)

Police arrest 3 officers for N150,000 extortion in Lagos (Punch)

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested three officers accused of extorting N150,000 from travellers along the Ikeja-Berger Road.

The arrest follows a viral post by one of the victims, Ramadan Adenola, who detailed the incident on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday.

Adenola recounted how he and his coworker, identified as @GbReigns, were stopped by armed policemen while travelling in a Bolt ride from their hotel in Ikeja to Berger. (Read more) 

EFCC nabs 2 for selling naira notes, seizes millions (Punch)

2 women have been arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for allegedly hawking naira notes.

The suspects identified as Adeoti Folake and Adewuyi were arrested in Lagos on March 21.

A statement on Monday by the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale said the sum of N3,850.000 and N1,600.000 were respectively recovered from the suspects. (Read more)
