Chelsea star Marcos Alonso has taken the unusual step of disabling comments from his Instagram page after suffering online abuse from angry supporters.
The Spaniard was left out of Chelsea’s Carabao Cup final squad to face Manchester City on Sunday and Maurizio Sarri admitted on Tuesday that the decision was purely tactical.
Alonso started the season in encouraging fashion and Sarri claimed in October that the Spaniard could become ‘the best left-back in the world’.
Alonso has been a popular figure at Stamford Bridge but the full-back felt he had no option but to turn off user comments on his Instagram page after receiving abuse from supporters over his recent performances. Read more
