The massive container ship that has been stuck in the Suez Canal for nearly a week was finally free Monday, an official said.
The bow of the Ever Given container vessel had been fully dislodged Monday afternoon, a Suez Canal Authority spokesperson told CNN.
The Ever Given container ship’s blocking of the Suez Canal has caused crippling international trade delays and caused multi-million-dollar losses.
Ship-tracking service VesselFinder also said the skyscraper-sized ship returned to its route.
“Ever Given container vessel returns to normal course after being freed from blockage in Suez Canal,” the tracking site said.
The colossal vessel had become wedged in the crucial global shipping waterway Tuesday.Initial reports blamed high winds and a sandstorm that affected visibility, but Egyptian officials later said that human error may have contributed to the maritime crisis. (NYPost)
