Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has ruled out Andreas Christensen leaving the club during the January transfer window.
Christensen has been linked with a move to Barcelona in recent weeks, with the Catalan side looking to strengthen their defence after injuries to Sergi Roberto, Samuel Umtitti and Thomas Vermaelen as well as Nelson Semedo.
However, Sarri has put an end to the speculation and suggested Barcelona’s loan acquisition of Valencia defender Jeison Murillo is proof Barcelona don’t need the Denmark international as well.
‘I think Barcelona yesterday signed a new centreback,’ Sarri said. ‘Christensen is out of the market. He’s an important player for us.’
However, while the Blues manager suggested the defender will be staying at Stamford Bridge, he did confirm he’s injured so won’t be out on the pitch anytime soon. Read more
