Dr Joe Okei-Odumakin, President of Centre for Change, has felicitated Nigerian workers for being steadfast in spite of harsh economic environment.

This is contained in a solidarity message Okei-Odumakin signed in commemoration of the 2023 Workers Day.

Workers Day also known as May Day is celebrated  annually on May 1.

The 2023 edition has the theme: ‘’Workers Rights and Socio-Economic Justice’’.

Okei-Odumakin also congratulated workers in other African countries and other parts of the world for resilience.

“We know that it is not the best time for workers on earth where only one per cent own more resources and is wealthier than 99 per cent.

“This is an indication that the old concept of labour is the future of the world and our humanity,” she said.

The group’s president added that workers had been calm even in the face of provocation.

She also commended them for choosing dignity and decency in the face of denial.

“We salute workers; overwhelming majority of them have refused to go wayward.
