Fresh from getting into a public war of words with Alan Shearer, Michael Owen is ruffling more feathers after claiming Liverpool wanted to sell Steven Gerrard two years before he left in 2015.
In January 2015, Liverpool announced that Gerrard would be leaving the club that summer after 26 years of service and he went on to follow in David Beckham’s footsteps by joining LA Galaxy.
Gerrard’s Liverpool career ended in disastrous fashion as his final appearance came in a 6-1 thrashing against Stoke City on the final day of the 2014-15 season, leaving them sixth in the table. Read more
