Mum seeks help over missing 17-year-old daughter in Lagos (Punch)
A woman identified as Mrs Rukayat Akinbode is appealing to the public for help in locating her 17-year-old daughter, Hameedah, who is currently missing.
PUNCH Metro gathered that the teenager has been missing since she left her parents’ residence at Baale Bus Stop in the Bariga area of the state on October 20, 2024.
Although unconfirmed reports suggested that the missing girl might have left home for an Islamic programme, her distraught mother explained that Hameedah had told them she was going to visit a friend in Oshodi during an Islamic programme in the area. Read more
Ambulance driver dies in Lagos auto crash (DailyTrust)
A yet-to- be identified driver of an ambulance has died in an auto crash around Gbagada end of the Oshodi-Iyana Oworo expressway, Lagos.
The deceased was said to be on an emergency call and was racing towards a location when he ran under the truck.
Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, Permanent Secretary (PS) of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), who confirmed the incident, said the Agency got information of the incident around 1.47am. Read more
NDLEA intercepts US, Europe-bound drugs in shoe soles, ₦16.6b Opioids at seaports (Channels)
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) says its operatives have intercepted some hard drugs concealed in soles of shoes and hair attachments heading to the United States and some parts of Europe.
Announcing this in a statement on Sunday, NDLEA spokesman, Femi Babafemi, said the consignments were seized by the anti-narcotics agency at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, Ikeja Lagos.
“A total of 2,118 pills of tramadol concealed in soles of 13 pairs of shoes going to Cyprus were seized at the export shed of the Lagos airport on 12th October 2024 and additional 380 tablets recovered from the home of the sender, Okenwa Kelvin Uchenna during a follow up operation in Enugu on Thursday 24th October. A cash of N968,880 and a Toyota Avalon car marked UWN 389 AS, were also recovered from the suspect at the time of his arrest,” he said. Read more
Abuja building collapse claims 7 (Nation)
The Federal Capital Territory FCT Emergency Management Department( FEMD) on Sunday declared seven people died in the building that collapsed on Saturday at Sabon Lugbe along the Airport Road.
FEMD dismissed as untrue media reports that 40 persons were trapped in the rubble.
A statement by FEMD Head Public Affairs, Nkechi Isa said: “FEMD wishes to clarify that the said structure located at Gidash Estate was one of the buildings earmarked for removal by the Department of Development Control. Read more

The Presidency has condemned those who labelled President Bola Ahmed Tinubu with different nicknames due to the current economic situations in the country, arguing that the President is not ‘T-pain’ and he feels the pain of Nigerians.
The Special Adviser for the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said this while featured on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics Sunday.

Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has dismissed the International Monetary Fund, IMF, denial of any role in Nigeria government’s removal of petrol subsidy and the implementation of other anti-people economic policies, insisting that the body is behind the country’s economic woes.
According to the NLC, the IMF and its cousin in economic mischief – the World Bank remain the twin forces that have a longstanding pattern of recommending harsh and unworkable economic policies to developing nations.

Keyamo confirms recovery of fourth body from Rivers helicopter crash (Punch)
The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has confirmed the recovery of another body from last Thursday’s helicopter crash in the Atlantic Ocean.
This announcement came barely seven hours after the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau debunked earlier reports claiming that two bodies had been found.
In a statement on his X account, Keyamo revealed that the NSIB notified him on Sunday of the recovery of one more lifeless body, identified as a victim of the Eastwind Aviation helicopter crash. Read more

Administrative work would be disrupted in public universities tomorrow following the decision of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of non-teaching staff unions in the universities, comprising the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU) and the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) to begin an indefinite strike over the non-payment of the four months withheld salary of their members.

RSF militia accused of ‘massacre’ in Sudan’s Gezira state (AfricaNews)
The attacks in the north and east of Gezira state have been called a massacre by the Gezira Conference, a local civil society organization.
It said fighters belonging to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) stormed a town in the Al-Kamelin locality on Friday morning and began firing indiscriminately from high-rise buildings. At least 50 people were killed and hundreds more injured.
In the the city of Tamboul in Gezira’s north, RSF fighters went on rampage, killing dozens of civilians and displacing thousands of others. Read more
