The Minority Leader of the Senate, Biodun Olujimi, has advised the presidency to desist from playing politics with sensitive issues like the budgeting process. Olujimi spoke in reaction to a statement credited to the presidency, where President Muhammadu Buhari allegedly blamed the National Assembly for the annual delay in the passage of the Appropriation Act. Traders at Ladipo Market in Lagos have appealed to Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode to construct a pedestrian bridge at Toyota Bus Stop to stop people from being knocked down while crossing Oshodi/Apapa Expressway. The traders spoke through the President-General of the market, Mr Jude Nwankwo, when the Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Commerce and Industry visited the market on Saturday. JAMB to offer scholarships to best-performing foreign nationals (Premium Times)
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says it will offer scholarships to foreign nationals who perform “exceptionally” in its next Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). The JAMB registrar said candidates in the sub-region who desire to school in Nigeria should look forward to the board’s sales of application forms which would commence in December. This was made known in a press statement sent to PREMIUM TIMES Sunday afternoon by the spokesperson of the board, Fabian Benjamin According to the statement, the JAMB registrar, Ishaq Oloyede, disclosed this at the 6th annual conference of West Africa Universities held at the Universite Cheikh Anta Diop, Dakar, Senegal. 25 people confirmed dead in California fires after more bodies found (SkyNews)
The total number of people known to have died in the California wildfire has increased to 25. More than a dozen bodies, most of which were found severely burned in their cars and houses, were discovered by authorities combing through the wreckage three days after the outbreak of the fire. The majority of the dead are in Butte County, where a further 110 people have been reported missing, but two bodies were also found in a car in wildfire in southern California. Read more

Donald Trump finally attends Armistice centenary service in the rain (Metro)
Donald Trump has attended a First World War memorial service in the rain – despite yesterday cancelling a cemetery visit because of the wet weather. The US President joined French President Emmanuel Macron at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier by the Arc de Triomphe, in Paris, to mark 100 years since the end of the war. Netflix chief Reed Hastings ready for Disney Plus battle (BBC)
The boss of Netflix, Reed Hastings, has told the BBC he is looking forward to going up against Disney when it launches its online streaming service, Disney Plus, next year. “We’ve been competing with Amazon for more than 10 years, so we’re used to healthy, strong competition,” he said. “It makes us better.” But Disney Plus, which has been dubbed the “Netflix Killer”, is expected to give both Amazon’s Amazon Prime and Netflix a run for their money. Chinese headmaster fired over secret coin mining at school (BBC)
A Chinese headmaster has been fired after a secret stack of crypto-currency mining machines was found connected to his school’s electricity supply. Teachers at the school in Hunan became suspicious of a whirring noise that continued day and night, local media report. This led to the discovery of the machines, which were mining the crypto-currency Ethereum. They racked up an electricity bill of 14,700 yuan (£1,600). Read more

Mohamed Salah helped Liverpool back to the top of the Premier League with a goal that came 14 seconds after Fulham had an effort controversially disallowed for offside. Mats Hummels has blamed illness for his poor performance in Bayern Munich’s defeat at Borussia Dortmund in Saturday’s Bundesliga showdown that left the defending champions seven points behind in the table. “I became ill today,” Hummels told reporters after Bayern lost 3-2 at Bundesliga leaders Dortmund despite having twice led at Signal Iduna Park. Teachers of Benue pupils killed by their mum: It’s shocking losing three of our pupils in gruesome manner (Punch)
Some teachers at the Nativity Private School, Makurdi, Benue State, where the three children of the Adetsavs attended could not hold back tears when our correspondent visited the school on Friday. Recall that 35-year-old Rachael Adetsav caused confusion recently when she allegedly killed her 42-year- old husband, Nicholas Adetsav, and their three children before killing herself. The family lived in a house located opposite NKST Vandeikya Street, High Level, Makurdi. The deceased couple were said to have met at Makurdi Local Government Area secretariat where the husband worked in the finance department while the wife worked in the agriculture department. 65-year-old man dies during sex with lover (Punch)
A man said to be about 65 years has been reported dead while having sex at a hotel in Awka, Anambra State. The man, identified as Mr Obi Nwoda, checked into the hotel with a lady on Saturday. According to the management of the hotel, the woman was leaving the hotel alone and when she was forced to go back to the room where the man, Obi Nwuda, was seen lying unconscious. Read more
