Grade A Customary Court, Mapo, Ibadan, Oyo State, has ordered a fresh hearing notice to be issued and served a woman, Safiyah, who was dragged to court by her husband, Hamzat (surname withheld), who alleged that she was stubborn, troublesome and in the habit of fighting him.

Hamzat also stated that Safiyat was diabolic.

According to him, his wife, with the support of her mother, attempted to turn him into a moron.

The plaintiff explained that the defendant was in the habit of washing her private part and using the  water to cook his food. Read more

The trial of Wawe Eseoghene Nelson, a.k.a James Andrew Shmit and Philip Bradley before Justice Aliyu Halilu of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Abuja commenced on Thursday, March 13, 2025 with the presentation of the First Prosecution Witness, PW1, Kathleen Sharp by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Nelson, arraigned on February 11, 2025 is facing prosecution by the EFCC on 11 count-charges bordering on advance fee fraud, impersonation, conspiracy and obtaining under false pretence to the tune of $968,000 (Nine Hundred and Sixty-eight Thousand Dollars), allegedly obtained from two US victims, Sharp and Holly Stamm.

Count one of his charge reads: “That you, Wawe Esoghene Nelson (a.k.a James Andrew Smith) sometime in 2023 at Abuja within the jurisdiction of this Honorable Court with intent to defraud, obtained the sum of One Hundred and Fifty-Five Thousand Dollars ($155,000) from one Kathleen Sharp, living in the United States of America … Read more

How Mohbad died after I treated him – Nurse Ogedengbe (Nation)

Feyisayo Ogedengbe, the auxiliary nurse who treated Mohbad, has revealed that the late singer had a severe reaction to a tetanus injection she administered. 

According to her testimony before Justice C.A. Shotobi at the Coroner’s Court in Ikorodu, Lagos, Mohbad started vomiting and developed goosebumps after the injection.

Sexual Harassment: Coalition condemns Natasha’s suspension (NewTelegraph)

We Are All Natasha (WAAN), a coalition of Nigerian women against injustice, has strongly condemned what it described as the “Misogynistic behaviour,” the alleged sexual harassment, and subsequent suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan from the Nigerian Senate.

In a letter addressed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and sent through the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, WAAN demanded that justice be upheld in the matter.

The letter, titled “Petition from Nigerian Women,” was presented during a peaceful rally held in Abuja, where hundreds of supporters gathered to raise awareness about the ongoing injustices faced by women in the Nigerian Senate, particularly in light of the suspension of Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan following her allegations of sexual harassment against Senate President Godswill Akpabio. Electricity consumers in Osun, Ondo and Ekiti states have decried the hike in tariff amidst epileptic power supply in the country.

In a survey conducted by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in the states, some electricity consumers described the hike as exploitative.

Pay pension benefits within 3 days, PenCom orders administrators, custodians (Leadership) 

National Pension Commission (PenCom) has mandated Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs) and Fund Custodians (PFCs) to approve and pay pension benefits to eligible applicants within three working days of receiving applications from them.

The pension watchdog also said effective from 1st June 2025, PFAs will no longer be required to seek approval or obtain a “No Objection” from PenCom before processing and disbursing benefits, including programmed withdrawal, retiree life annuity, and temporary loss of employment benefits, among others.

“PFAs are mandated to process and approve eligible benefit applications within two working days of receiving all required documentation, while Pension Fund Custodians (PFCs) must ensure payment of the approved benefits within 24 hours of receiving instructions from the PFAs,” the commission said in a circular that was released yesterday. Russian President Vladimir Putin will have to come to the table to negotiate peace in Ukraine “sooner or later,” Britain’s Prime Minister Keir Starmer told a summit of Kyiv’s allies on Saturday.

In opening remarks to the “coalition of the willing,” Starmer said the past week – in which Kyiv agreed to a US-backed ceasefire proposal while Putin prevaricated – “has shown once again that Ukraine is the party of peace.”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who is taking part in Saturday’s summit, “has agreed to and committed to a 30-day unconditional ceasefire,” Starmer said, while “Putin is the one trying to delay.” Read more

Tesla, in a letter, tells Trump administration it’s worried about tariffs (ABC)

In a letter to the Trump administration this week, electric automaker Tesla raised concerns about President Donald Trump’s ongoing tariffs, warning that the company could be “exposed” to retaliatory tariffs and urging the administration to “consider the downstream impacts.”

The comments were made in an unsigned letter on Tesla letterhead to United States Trade Representative Jamison Greer. It came after the USTR office earlier this year said it would be conducting a “review of unfair trade practices.”

The letter, dated March 11, comes from the company of tech billionaire Elon Musk, who has been leading the effort to slash government spending and downsize the federal workforce. It’s unclear if Musk was personally involved in sending the letter, and he has not addressed it on his social media platform, X. Read more

Serbian anticorruption protesters, riot police and supporters of President Aleksandar Vucic have faced off in central Belgrade as tens of thousands of people have turned out for the biggest antigovernment rallies in years.

Near-daily student protests began in December after the deaths of 15 people when a roof at a railway station collapsed on November 1 in the northern city of Novi Sad, which critics blame on corruption under Vucic.

Sporadic clashes occurred overnight before Saturday’s rally, which is due to start at 4pm (15:00 GMT) in front of the National Assembly, from which protesters will march to Slavija Square. Umuahia to host national U-12, U-15 handball championships (Punch)

The Handball Federation of Nigeria has announced that the National U-12 and U-15 Handball Championship will hold this month in Umuahia, Abia State.

According to a statement from the Secretary-General of HFN, Monica Otumala, the championship will be held from March 18 to 25 with the arrival date and screening to hold within the first two days while the matches will begin on March 20.

Otumala also emphasised on the importance of the screening which will hold on March 19 to determine those who are truly U-12 and U-15 to play in the championship, stating that there will be sanction for teams, academies or clubs for any discrepancy. Read more

San Antonio Spurs guard De’Aaron Fox will undergo season-ending surgery on his left pinkie, the team announced. The surgery, to repair tendon damage, will be performed Tuesday.

Fox, who joined the Spurs in a Feb. 3 trade from the Sacramento Kings, has not missed a game since that day. He totaled 23 points, 11 rebounds and nine rebounds in a win over the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday in San Antonio.

“Fox sustained the injury during training camp in October while with the Sacramento Kings and has played through the tendon damage all season, including since being acquired by San Antonio on Feb. 3,” the Spurs said. Read more
