The leading Pastor of Salvation Ministries, David Ibiyeomie, has claimed giving God his salary of N5,000 in 1997 led to a series of miracles.

He said this in a video posted on Instagram on May 28, 2024.

Ibiyeomie, who was standing behind the pulpit in the video, stated his wife requested his N5,000 salary so that she could buy foodstuff at the market. Read more

The Director General of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Segun Ajayi-Kadir, has appealed to the organised labour to reconsider its decision to embark on a nationwide strike from June 3rd over the tripartite committee’s inability to agree on a new minimum wage.

The President of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Festus Osifo announced the strike at a joint news conference with the leadership of the NLC in Abuja on Friday.

The organised labour had pulled out of the negotiation and rejected two Federal Government offers, the latest being N60,000. They are insisting on N497,000 as minimum wage. Read more 

Abba Kyari released after 27 months in detention (FRCN)

Abba Kyari, the suspended deputy commissioner of police, has been released from the Federal Capital Territory’s Kuje Custodial Center in Abuja.

He has been held in custody for 27 months.

Adamu Duza, the spokesperson of the Service, confirmed that Kyari was released on Friday following the fulfillment of his bail conditions.

Federal High Court sitting in Abuja had given Abba Kyari, temporary bail to allow Abba Kyari to pay his last respects to his mother, Yachilla Kyari, who died on Sunday, May 5, 2024. Read more

Lagos-based lawyer unveils 450-page compendium for law firm’s 30th anniversary (Tribune)

Legal luminary, Professor Yusuf Olaolu Ali (SAN) on Saturday unveiled a 450-page compendium as a contribution to the legal and general community to celebrate 30 years of his law firm, Ghalib Chambers.

Speaking during the event in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital, Ali said that the compendium is not to be sold. He also said that the law firm would institute an annual national discourse day next year when the chamber would turn 31.

“l am pleased to inform this audience that as part of the activities of this 30th anniversary of Ghalib Chambers, we have compiled a compendium of over 450 pages which will be unveiled by the Vice President during the course of this event. I wish to state further that the compendium is not to be sold. It is the contribution of Ghalib Chambers to the legal and general community. Read more

The Board of Governors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group, has approved a capital increase of 117 billion dollars to further support Nigeria and other countries on the continent.

The AfDB President, Dr Akinwumi Adesina, said this at the closing of the 2024 Annual Meetings of the bank in Nairobi.

Hit-and-run driver kills woman in Anambra (DailyTrust)

A driver hit and killed a female pedestrian along the Awka-Onitsha Expressway in Anambra on Friday night, according to the state Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

Mr Adeoye Irelewuyi, Commander of the FRSC in Anambra, told newsmen on Saturday in Awka that the driver fled the scene after the incident.

According to Deadline, the second Amsterdam show on Minaj’s Pink Friday 2 World Tour was cancelled on Friday night (May 31), one week after the rapper was detained for allegedly having marijuana in her luggage.

The show’s cancellation was announced on the website for Dutch promoter Mojo, where the message translates to “Due to the events of last week, the Nicki Minaj show on Sunday, 2nd June at Ziggo Dome, Amsterdam will no longer be taking place. FIFA has been listening to the concerns of women in the game and, following thorough discussions with key stakeholders and a previous set of landmark reforms, has moved to further protect their well-being by implementing changes to the Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players (RSTP) that will enter into force on 1 June 2024.

“One of our key objectives in women’s football is to see more women around the world being able to make a living playing the sport that they love and, in order to do that, we need to make sure that they are protected in doing that. And for women, especially those who are wanting to be mothers or to start a family, to adopt children, it’s important that they are able to do that without having to give up – or have a negative impact on – their footballing career,” said Sarai Bareman, the FIFA Chief Women’s Football Officer.

Approved by the FIFA Council in May 2024, these changes will extend the rights and protections to adoptive parents as well as non-biological mothers. Read more
