The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced 155 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday.
In a Twitter update, the government agency, said there are now 59,738 confirmed cases of people infected with the disease caused by the novel coronavirus in Nigeria.
It added that a total number of 51,403 people have so far been discharged from hospital.
The death toll, it stated, stayed the same, at 1,113 with no new deaths from the respiratory disease.
The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, in its October 7 COVID19 update on Twitter said the total number of cases on the continent is 1, 526, 428, while total deaths is 37, 105 and 1, 263, 120 have so far recovered.
Meanwhile, over 35 million confirmed cases have been reported in 188 countries and more than one million people have died from the virus.
According to a tally by the Johns Hopkins University, 35,762,664 infections have been confirmed worldwide, while 1,049,748 have died.
