#EndBadGovernance: NCoS denies detaining minors in adult facility (Punch)
The Nigerian Correctional Service has refuted claims that juvenile defendants from the recent #EndBadGovernance protests were detained in adult custodial facilities at the Kuje Correctional Centre in Abuja.
Following the arraignment of 76 individuals in connection with the protests, Justice Obiora Egwuatu ordered that underage defendants be placed in a borstal facility while adults would be remanded in standard cells until their bail conditions were met.

The National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS) has lamented what it described as ‘stark gender disparity” at the National Assembly in relation to female representation.
This was disclosed by Titilayo Daniel while addressing over 100 female politicians at a town hall meeting tagged “Enhancing Women Political Representation,” facilitated by the House of Representatives, Deputy Chief Whip, Hon. Adewunmi Onanuga, held at Sagamu Town Hall over the weekend.

Gout is often associated with drinking too much or not eating healthily enough, but new research suggests genetics play more of a factor in developing the arthritic condition than previously thought.
The research, carried out by an international team of scientists, looked at genetic data collected from 2.6 million people across 13 different cohorts of DNA data. That number included 120,295 people with “prevalent gout”.
By comparing the genetic codes of the people with gout against the people without, the team found 377 specific DNA regions where there were variations specific to having the condition – 149 of which hadn’t been previously linked to gout. Read more

A jury on Friday found a former Louisville, Kentucky, police officer guilty of violating Breonna Taylor’s civil rights in a botched raid that led to her death, NBC affiliate WAVE of Louisville reported.
The jury also acquitted Brett Hankison of a second count that accused him of violating the civil rights of Taylor’s neighbor.
Taylor, 26, was fatally shot by police in the March 13, 2020, raid, but not by Hankison and he was not charged with her death. Read more

Zelenskyy raised the prospect of a preemptive Ukrainian strike on camps where the North Korean troops are being trained, and said Kyiv knows their location. But he said Ukraine can’t do it without permission from allies to use Western-made long-range weapons to hit targets deep inside Russia.
