Nigeria’s confirmed COVID-19 cases climb to 2558 as gradual easing of lockdown begins in Lagos, FCT

Nigeria recorded an additional 170 confirmed COVID-19 cases on the eve of the gradual easing of lockdown imposed on the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Lagos and Ogun states in order to control the spread five weeks ago.

According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Twitter, the total of confirmed cases in the country is now 2558. 

A breakdown of the new cases shows that Ogun State, which is under lockdown until May 9, has 24, while Lagos recorded 39 cases and the FCT 12. Lagos is followed by Kano with 29. There is Bauchi with 18, Kaduna (15), Sokoto (12), Katsina (8), Borno (7), Nasarawa (3), Adamawa (2) and Oyo (1).

NCDC announced 400 recoveries and 87 deaths.
