Nigeria has seen an increase of 499 COVID-19 cases bringing the number of confirmed cases in the country to 30,748.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) made this known in an update via tweet Thursday night, also announcing that 689 people have lost their lives to the virus in the country even as 12,546 have been discharged after testing negative.
Lagos, still the epicentre of the virus, recorded 157 cases, followed by Edo with 59, Ondo-56, Oyo-31, Akwa Ibom-22, Borno-21, Plateau-19, Kaduna-18, Katsina-18, Bayelsa-17 and FCT-17.
Others are: Delta-14, Kano-11, Rivers-10, Enugu-8, Ogun-6, Kwara-4, Imo-3, Nasarawa-2, Osun-2, Abia-1, Ekiti-1, Niger-1 and Yobe-1.
As at July 7, Africa’s confirmed coronavirus death toll is 11,955. There are 508,086 confirmed infections and 245,068 recoveries, according to the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention.
More than 12.2 million people around the world have been diagnosed with the coronavirus disease, known as COVID-19, and more than 553,000 have died, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University. More than 6.7 million patients have recovered.
