No fewer than nine people have been confirmed dead, while three others sustained varying degrees of injuries in an accident that occurred yesterday morning along the Ibadan-Lagos Expressway.
The accident, which happened around 5:30 a.m. at Ayetoro village on the expressway in the Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, involved a Toyota Hiace commercial passenger bus with registration number UYY 165 ZY TOYOTA and an articulated truck marked DKA 244 XC.
The Public Education Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) for the Ogun Sector Command, Florence Okpe, who confirmed the accident, attributed the cause of the crash to โexcessive speed and fatigue.โ
