NLNG Shipping and Marine Services Limited (NSML) and Temile Development Company Limited inked a landmark Vessel Management Agreement (VMA) on Tuesday in a significant stride for Nigeria’s maritime industry.
The agreement, according to a statement, will see NSML providing comprehensive vessel technical management services for the newly acquired 23,000 cubic metre LPG vessel, LPG Alfred Temile 10, owned by Temile Development Company.
The signing ceremony, held in Abuja, saw the participation of key industry figures, including Mr. Abdulkadir Ahmed, NSML’s Managing Director and CEO, and Mr. Alfred Temile, CEO of Temile Development Company. The event was attended by notable dignitaries such as Adegboyega Oyetola, Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, represented by Mrs. Ekanem Ogegere Celia, Deputy Director of Cabotage and Shipping, and Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development & Monitoring Board.
Mr. Ahmed emphasised NSML’s commitment to leveraging its expertise to ensure the Alfred Temile 10 operates safely, reliably and efficiently. He noted the evolving relationship with Temile Development Company, which began with the delivery of their first LPG vessel in 2020 and has since flourished.
“This momentous occasion represents our shared commitment to excellence, safety and innovation in the maritime industry. The Alfred Temile 10 is a testament to our dedication to operating a modern, efficient, and environmentally responsible fleet,” Ahmed remarked. “With its cutting-edge design and technology, this vessel will set a new standard for LPG transportation in Nigeria and West Africa.”
Mr. Temile echoed these sentiments, highlighting the critical role the new vessel will play in enhancing gas transportation in Nigeria. He underscored the company’s commitment to high standards of safety and environmental stewardship, anticipating further strategic investments, including a third gas carrier later this year.
“We are confident that this partnership will set a new benchmark in the industry, and we are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead. This agreement demonstrates our commitment to delivering sustainable growth and value to our shareholders and Nigeria,” Temile added.
The keynote speaker, Engr. Felix Ogbe, commended NSML and Temile Development Company for the partnership. He stressed that there was ample human capacity, resources and tenacity in-country to achieve great feats, calling for increased collaboration and cooperation in the maritime industry.
