Offa bank robberies: Kwara court admits gov’s CPS to bail (Punch)

A Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, presided over by Justice Mathew Adewara, on Tuesday granted an interim bail to the Chief of Staff to the Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Yusuf Abdulwahab, in the sum of N10m. Abdulwahab had been in police custody in Abuja since June 2, 2018, after he honoured police invitation for his alleged link with suspects who allegedly robbed five commercial banks and one microfinace bank in Offa on April 5. Abdulwahab had initially filed a motion on notice before a Federal High Court in Abuja. He had prayed the court for an order granting him bail from police custody on the grounds that he had been detained without charge for longer than 24 hours allowed by law. Read more
