The much-awaited new novel by Dr Wale Okediran, the Secretary-General of the Pan African Writers Association (PAWA), will finally be presented to the public at 10 am on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at this year’s Nigeria International Book Fair in Lagos, Nigeria.
The launch which will be part of the activities for the 20th edition of Nigeria International Book Fair Festival will take place at Harbour Point Event Centre, Ahmadu Bello Way, Victoria Island, Victoria Island venue of the book fair, according to a statement.
The hybrid event (physical and virtual) will be chaired by the Minister of State for Health, Senator Olorunnimbe Mamora. He will be supported by other personalities drawn from all walks of life.
The book will be reviewed by a Professor of International Relations and former VC of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti, Professor Kayode Soremekun.
Okediran
Madagali, published by Evans Publishers Plc, is set in North East, Nigeria and pays attention to the pathetic nature of Nigeriaโs current war against insurgency.
It will be recalled that Okediranโs political thriller, Tenants of the House, drawn from his four-year experience as a politician and parliamentarian, which was adapted into film, has been making the cinema rounds in the country. Madagali is another addition to Okediranโs ever widening literary output, just as he carries the torch of literary administration all over Africa as Secretary General of Pan African Writers Association after succeeding the late Ghanaian poet, Prof. Atukwei Okai.
With the publication of Madagali, Okediran is fast distinguishing himself as a master of literary currency, as his stories emanate from Nigeriaโs current socio-political events in his documentation of the tragic anomie endlessly plaguing his beloved country. What is unique about Okediranโs work is that he is able to distil fiction from the avalanche of every day socio-political events to create works that stand tall and totally enjoyable.
