Maurizio Sarri has confirmed Olivier Giroud will remain at Chelsea next season as the club are set to exercise an option to extend the Frenchman’s deal by a further 12 months.
The former Arsenal striker recently expressed his dismay at his bit-part role at Stamford Bridge and admitted he was considering offers to leave the club.
Giroud is behind Gonzalo Higuain in the pecking order and, even when the Argentine is not available, Sarri often plays Eden Hazard through the middle instead.
The 32-year-old is believed to be open to leaving the club but Sarri has confirmed the Blues will trigger an extension in the Frenchman’s contract. Read more
