Heads of family compounds (Mogajis) in Ibadan have expressed optimism that the lingering face-off between Oba Saliu Adetunji, the Olubadan of Ibadanland and some of his High Chiefs would soon be resolved.
Oba Adetunji and the High Chiefs have been at loggerheads over the controversial elevation of the chiefs to beaded crown-wearing monarchs by Abiola Ajimobi, governor of Oyo State.
The Olubadan’s failure to recognize the new status of the new monarchs has been the bone of contention and this made the High Chiefs to instruct local government authorities in which they preside as chairmen of the traditional council to withhold Oba Adetunji’s salaries. Read more
