One dies in Lagos cultists’ clash

There was tension on Monday when suspected members of the Eiye Confraternity invaded Agiliti area of Mile 12, Lagos State, and allegedly stabbed a member of the Aiye Confraternity to death.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the clash was a reprisal following an attack reportedly carried out by members of the Aiye Confraternity, which led to the death of an Eiye member last week.

However, during Monday’s attack, which occurred around 1pm, it was learnt that residents and business owners in the area were caught off guard.

Some of the residents were said to have abandoned their homes and fled the area.

To restore normalcy, it was leant that men of the state police command were drafted to the area to arrest the suspects.

An eyewitness, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the cultist, who was attacked, died on the spot. (Text courtesy Punch)
