Lagos State Government has disclosed plans to launch at least 100 public toilets very soon across some major areas in the state to tackle the menace of open defecation.
Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed this on Friday, at the on-going Ministerial Press briefing at Alausa, Ikeja, to commemorate the first Year of the second term in office of Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his Deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, held at Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.
Vanguard had reported how the Minister of state for environment Izhaq Adekunle Saleko said that 48 million Nigerians which represents 23 percent of total population still practice open defecation despite 2025 deadline to end open defecation while 159 million Nigerians are without washing hand facilities.
