Woman tortures seven-year-old niece with hot knife for stealing chewing gum (Punch)
A seven-year-old girl, Mazichukwu, is battling with burns allegedly inflicted on her by her aunt, whom she lives with on Josiah Aina Street, Alakuko, Lagos State.
The aunt, Mrs Loveth Ozoihu, reportedly punished the girl by beating her with a hot knife for allegedly stealing chewing gum belonging to their neighbour’s child.
Punch Metro learnt that Ozoihu, a trader, had sent Mazichukwu to give the neighbour the change for the goods she bought from her. Read more
Two conductors steal housewife’s pants (Nation)
Two bus conductors, Peter Ayodele, 20, and Chibuzor David, 21, were on Tuesday arraigned at an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing three pants belonging to a housewife.
Ayodele pleaded guilty; David pleaded not guilty.
Magistrate M.O. Tanimola ordered that Ayodele be remanded in Kirikiri Prisons, pending the review of the facts of the case and sentencing. David was granted N80, 000 bail with two sureties in the like sum. Read more
Forgery: Man drags octogenarian father-in-law to court (Punch)
An estranged son-in-law, through the Lagos State Government, on Monday, dragged his father-in-law, Joseph Osula, before the state High Court in Ikeja for allegedly forging a Land Use Charge annual bill.
Osula, who was arraigned before the court for allegedly forging the Land Use Charge of a property at Oladipupo Diya Street, Ikoyi, Lagos, reportedly changed the name on the document to that of one Prince Bunmi Oguntolu.
The 80-year-old was also accused of conducting himself in a manner that caused a breach of public peace. Read more
27-year-old tailor ’hits’ landlord with chair (Nation)
A 27-year-old tailor, Toheeb Rasaq, who allegedly punched his landlord and hit him with a chair, on Wednesday, appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.
The defendant is facing a three-count charge of breach of the peace, assault and causing grievous harm. He pleaded not guilty.
Prosecuting Inspector Aondohemba Koti said the defendant committed the offence on November 4, last year, at his residence. Read more
Two ‘fake’ lawyers charged with fraud (Nation)
Two persons were on Wednesday arraigned before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court for posing as lawyers to defraud some potential tenants.
Taiwo Alatise, 53, and Abiodun Olatoye, 67, were charged with conspiracy, stealing, obtaining under false pretences, forgery and being in possession of false documents.
They pleaded not guilty. Read more
Police arraign businessman for failing to supply N3.1m farm produce (Punch)
For his alleged failure to supply farm produce worth N3.1 million to his customer, 31-year-old Adedokun Adewumi was, on Wednesday, arraigned before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
Adewumi was arraigned on three counts bordering on conspiracy and fraud.

Two quack doctors held (Nation)
Two men, Paul Kahomen and Ettenne Hounsa, who allegedly set up a clinic and posed as doctors, on Tuesday appeared before an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court.
Kahomen, 30, and Hounsa, 20, are facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, unlawful possession of medical instruments/drugs and impersonation.
