The Oscars have revealed they will present four awards during the commercial breaks after months of indecision and claims they wanted a shorter broadcast.
The awards will be best cinematography, film editing, live action short and makeup and hairstyling, and although less than expected, it is sure to continue to outrage large swathes of the Academy who see it as a demotion.
The news was announced to members in a letter from Academy President John Bailey who said that the winning speeches will be ‘aired later in the broadcast’ and that viewers online will see the awards presented ‘live, along with our audience’.
Bailey also confirmed ‘the executive committees of six branches generously opted-in to have their awards presented in this slightly edited timeframe for this year’s show, and we selected four.’ Read more
