Owen Hargreaves has urged Maurizio Sarri to give Ethan Ampadu a chance in Chelsea’s first-team after the Welshman was left out of the squad for the team’s 5-0 drubbing of Dynamo Kyiv in the Europa League on Thursday.
Ampadu, 18, is regarded as one of the best up-and-coming prospects at Chelsea and has been a part of the first-team squad since his move from Exeter City in 2017, however, he has found playing opportunities hard to come by.
The Wales international hasn’t played a single minute of Premier League football this season and has been restricted to the odd run-out in cup competitions, playing five times in the Europa League and FA Cup.
After featuring in the last round against Malmo, Ampadu was expected to at least be in the squad against Dynamo Kyiv but he was left out entirely and Hargreaves believes that he, along with Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, warrants more game time. Read more
