Pastor, 3 others caught with human skull in Ogun (Punch)
A pastor with the Christ Liberty Evangelism Church, Rosco, Iyana Iyesi, Ota, Oyenekan Oluwaseyi, and three others have been arrested with a human skull in the Saje Area of Abeokuta, the Ogun State Capital.
PUNCH Metro learnt on Sunday that Oluwaseyi and the three others, 30-year-old Ibrahim Agbowewe, 40-year-old Suleiman Ogunbunmi, and 57-year-old Gafari Akinsanya, were arrested by men of the state police command in the early hours of Saturday.
A source in the command told our correspondent that the suspects claimed they had intended to use the skull for rituals. Read more
Lagos seals private hospital for transfusing unscreened blood (Guardian)
/Lagos State government, through the State Blood Transfusion Service (LSBTS), has shut a private hospital located at Ago-Okota in Oshodi-Isolo Local Council of the state for engaging in unhealthy and unwholesome practice of collecting and transfusing unscreened blood to unsuspecting patients.
Executive Secretary of LSBTS Dr Bodunrin Osikomaiya, who disclosed this, said the health facility was sealed by LSBTS and the State Health Facilities Monitoring and Accreditation Agency (HEFAMAA), following a tip off by a concerned citizen.
According to her, a concerned citizen had reached out to the agency to report the unwholesome practices of the facility. Read more
Indian narrates ordeal with Abuja ‘‘agberos’’ (DailyTrust)
An Indian, Mr Sanjay Kumar Singh, was allegedly manhandled by some men parading themselves as road officials in Abuja.
Mr Singh told City & Crime that as he was being driven by his chauffeur, they stopped at a traffic light in Maitama and then three people popped up, asking for vehicle particulars.
He explained that as the light signaled them to move, “The men started demanding money. They blocked our vehicle and started vandalising it. They removed the number plate. They opened the car door and one of them sat on one of my staff’s laps. One of them removed me from the car before they seized the car from my driver. Read more
INEC does better in off-season elections, says ADC national chairman (Tribune)
National chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Chief Ralph Okey-Nwosu, says Nigerians should give the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) the benefit of the doubt over its promise to uphold the law in releasing the results of the November 11 governorship elections coming up in Kogi, Imo and Bayelsa states.
The national chairman of the ADC spoke to the Nigerian Tribune, on Sunday, while reacting to the declaration on Saturday by the INEC chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu Okey-Nwosu, that the poll would be transmitted electronically.
Nwosu observed that certain factors, such as security and logistics, are beyond the commission’s core mandate during elections. Read more

Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, yesterday, vowed to prosecute all the 11 employees of 10 Pots Night Club at 2A Admiralty Way, Lekki, who assaulted state officials and also broke the seal of Lagos State Environmental protection Agency, LASEPA, and the property owners.
The commissioner, who spoke in the aftermath of the arrest of the staffers (4 male, 7 female), who were arrested after brutalising the LASEPA officials, who had earlier sealed the premises for noise pollution.
He added that they will all be arraigned before appropriate courts of law on Monday as well as the property owner too to serve as a deterrence to others who might consider embracing such illegal options. Read more

The Implementer, United Nations Education Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) Media and Information Literacy (MIL) Alliance, in Nigeria, Victor Asije, has called on educators and parents to always guide children on media and information usage.
Asije, who made the call ahead of this year’s UNESCO Global MIL Week, scheduled to hold October 23 -25, noted in Lagos that millions of children had become vulnerable to the negative use of media and information at their disposal.
In a statement made available to THISDAY yesterday, he said it had become vitally important for educators and parents to offer guidance to, “the unsuspecting and exuberant children” on the meaningful use of media and information. Read more

Former Miss World contestant Sherika De Armas dies at 26 (TheMessenger)
Sherika De Armas, who represented Uruguay in 2015’s Miss World competition in 2015, has died at the age of 26, according to local media.
De Armas died on October 11 after battling uterine cancer, which she was diagnosed with in 2021.

Barboza (24-11) survived a dreadful opening round en route to a comeback unanimous decision win at UFC Fight Night. All three judges called it for Barboza, via scores of 49-46, 48-46 and 48-46.
