The Police in Lagos on Tuesday, arraigned a 30-year-old man, Habeeb Salami before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged breach of peace and malicious damage.
The defendant, whose address is unknown, is standing trial on a two-count charge of breach of peace and malicious damage.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, ASP Clement Okuoimose told the court that the defendant committed the offences in the month of Feb. at No 10, Orisunmibare area of Lagos.
Okuoimose said that the defendant allegedly conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by denying the entire members access to a three-bedroom bungalow, property of Sheriff Salami.
“The defendant maliciously damaged the doors and keys of the bungalow.
“The defendant is one of the sons of Salami and the bungalow was inherited by the nine members of the family.
“The defendant out of annoyance denied them the access due to the reason best known to him,” he said.
The offences, he said, contravened Sections 168 and 350 of the Criminal Law of Lagos state, 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr N A Layeni granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
He said that one of the sureties should be gainfully employed while other should be a civil servant.
Layeni adjourned the case until June 26, for mention. (NAN)
