Police arrest 3 civil servants for vandalizing govt property in Kano

Operatives of the Kano State Police Command on December 9, 2023, arrested one Abubakar Gambo Director at the Kano State Ministry of Water Resources.

Gambo, and two other suspects, were arrested for conspiring to forge a letter authorising the auction of a high-capacity Water Irrigation Pump and Tank, a crucial public utility without proper consent from the Supervising Ministry.

The other two suspects are Baba Yahaya, Assistant Secretary Administration, and Nuhu Mansur, the former Manager of Karefa Water Irrigation Scheme.

The three suspects were arrested at the Karefa Water Irrigation Scheme in Tudun Wada LGA.

During the investigation, the suspects admitted to jointly committing the offence and confessed to selling the property for N500,000.

The case is set to be presented in court upon the completion of the investigation.

Commissioner of Police in Kano Muhammed Usaini Gumel expressed gratitude to the citizens for their continuous support in identifying individuals engaged in illicit activities.

Gumel emphasised the importance of considering government property as a collective responsibility and urged everyone to safeguard public assets.

He appreciated the confidence and friendship extended by the people of the state to the Police Command, while reassuring the public of the commitment to upholding justice and maintaining security in the state. (Guardian)
