Lagos police arrest 4 suspected traffic robbers (Punch)
Police operatives in Lagos State have arrested four persons for allegedly robbing road users in traffic along the Ojota area of the state.
The Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.
According to Hundeyin, the suspects were arrested following a tip-off received from one of the victims who alerted men of the Rapid Response Squad who immediately swung into action, trailed the suspects and arrested three on Sunday while the fourth suspect was arrested on Monday. Read more
Technician nabbed for stealing 4 solar panels in Lagos (Punch)
A 30-year-old technician, Emmanuel Achogwu, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly stealing four solar panels in the Ikosi area of the state on Monday.
The state police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, who made the news of the arrest known on his verified X handle on Monday, said the stolen four panels were meant to power streetlights in the area.
Hundeyin added that the suspect was one of the technicians contracted to install the panels in the area before he returned to vandalise them. Read more
Lagos police nab woman for bathing husband with hot water (Punch)
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a lady identified as Dorcas Oluwabukola for allegedly pouring hot water on her husband in the Meiran area of the state over suspicion of infidelity.
A police source, who did not want to be mentioned in the media, in the Meiran division, told PUNCH Metro that the suspect would be transferred to the state Criminal Investigation Department once the investigation was completed.
PUNCH Metro reports that the incident, which was said to have happened about five days ago, was trending on multiple social media handles, with claims that the wife became irked after the husband attended his childhood friend’s wedding without her company. Read more
Court remands man for allegedly stabbing colleague (Punch)
A Yaba Magistrate’s Court on Friday remanded one Taiye Adebayo for allegedly stabbing his colleague, Shonibare Surajudeen, to death during an altercation.
The police brought the 25-year-old defendant before Magistrate L.Y. Balogun on a one-count charge bordering on murder.
Adebayo was alleged to have stabbed the 36-year-old Surajudeen while they were quarrelling, although the cause of the quarrel was not disclosed in court. Read more

According to the NDLEA, its operatives raided a house in the Mushin area of Lagos on Thursday, December 21, where a 70-year-old grandma, Selifat Cole and her son, Babajide Cole, were arrested with 117.900kg of cannabis sativa.
The spokesperson for the NDLEA, Femi Babafemi, revealed the development in a statement on Sunday, while noting that the arrests were made with the support of the Nigerian Customs Service and other stakeholders. Read more
Court remands alleged WhatsApp hacker over N700k fraud (Punch)
A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has ordered the remand of an alleged WhatsApp hacker, Stephen Andrew Ojo, at the Ikoyi centre of the Nigerian Correctional Services.
Justice Akintayo Aluko remanded the defendant following his arraignment before the court by the officers of the Zone 2 Police Command, Onikan, Lagos.
Ojo was arraigned on four counts which bordered on conspiracy, identity theft, and obtaining by false pretence. Read more
Surety jailed for aiding drug baron’s escape (Punch)
A professional surety, Jude Okpala (a.k.a Stephen Ekpanisi), who aided a drug baron, Okpala Mathew Emmy, to escape from custody, was on Thursday convicted and sentenced to two years imprisonment by a Federal High Court in Lagos state.
The fugitive drug baron was arraigned before the court in charge No: FHC/L/217c/10, by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.
During the arraignment of the drug baron, the convict, Ekpanisi, stood for him as a surety, after he was admitted to bail by the court. Read more
Man arraigned for stealing N25m in Lagos (Punch)
The Lagos State Police Command has arraigned a man, Adegboyega Rabiu, before the Yaba Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing the sum of N25 million from one Lanre Badmus in the Ikorodu area of the state.
The 50-year-old defendant was arraigned before Magistrate Patrick Nwaka on two counts of receiving money by false pretence and stealing.
According to Ayedun who spoke to our correspondent at the court, the defendant presented himself as an official of the Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority and promised to help him get approval for a prospective hotel which he wanted to construct in Ikorodu. Read more
2 remanded for killing friend over bags of rice (Punch)
A Magistrate’s Court sitting in the Yaba area of Lagos State has remanded two friends, Noah Tovohome and Rajay Zannu, to a correctional centre for allegedly plotting and killing their friend, Segun Zusu, over 36 bags of rice.
The duo was brought before Magistrate Linda Balogun on Tuesday on two counts bordering on murder.
It was gathered in court that the defendants, Tovohome and Zannu, plotted with a boat driver who was conveying Zusu’s goods from Seme to kill him and steal the bags of rice. Read more

A Yaba Magistrate’s Court has remanded a Lagos driver, Godwin Waheed, for allegedly kidnapping, detaining, and sexually assaulting a girl at the Third Mainland Bridge, Lagos State.
The police brought the defendant on Thursday before Magistrate Patrick Nwaka on two counts bordering on unlawful confinement, detention and defilement of his supposed passenger.
The 44-year-old was alleged to have conveyed the victim as a passenger in his Toyota Sienna,

Man remanded for threatening colleague (Nation)
Magistrates’ Court in Ogba, Lagos State has ordered the remand of a 31-year-old businessman, Anaka Onyedika, for allegedly threatening to kill a colleague through the Okija shrine.
The police arraigned him before Magistrate L. A. Owolabi, who sits in Court 5, Ogba.
In a four-count charge, police prosecutor said Onyedika, on December 13, at about 9.39hrs, at Oworonshoki, conspired to commit felony to wit: a written threat to life and cyberstalking. Read more
