Kaduna State Police Command has barricaded the road leading to the Government House in the state capital.
This followed the violence that trailed the #EndBadGovernance protests on Thursday in some parts of the state as well as the attempted attack on the state’s Government House by hoodlums.
On Friday, a combined team of security operatives could be seen mounting water-tight surveillance along the road leading to the state seat of power.
A team of policemen, civil defence and members of the state vigilance service mounted a barricade along the government house road to prevent hoodlums from gaining access to the general area as well as other surrounding communities.
Meanwhile, the police authorities have called on parents and guardians to restrain their wards from indulging in disturbance of public peace during the protest, warning them to treat such tendencies with the seriousness they deserve.
In a statement released by the state police spokesman, Mansir Hassan, the Command advised groups intending to protest, to liaise with the Commissioner of Police to order to fashion out modalities for a peaceful protest.
“The somewhat peaceful protest has been hijacked by hoodlums who took undue advantage of the so-called faceless sponsors and unleashed their planned mayhem on the state,” he said.
“Consequently, the unruly miscreants attempted to gain access into the Kaduna State Government House before they were resisted by the security personnel at the said location, injured two policemen, broke the glasses of Police armoured personnel carrier stationed at the entrance of the Government House.
“They subsequently, attacked the office and staff of the Kaduna State Traffic Law Enforcement Agency (KASTLEA) and torched the former along with adjoining other State Government offices.
“Twenty-five numbers of these hoodlums were arrested with exhibits indicating their violent tendencies. These exhibits included scissors, a jackknife and even live 7.62 X 39mm ammunition recovered from one Hassan Ibrahim of Rigasa area Kaduna. Similarly, one suspect was arrested dressed in a police camouflage uniform for deception.” (Channels)
