Police operatives of the Intelligence Response Team have neutralised a notorious and wanted kidnapping kingpin whose gang had been terrorising residents of the FCT after a gun duel.

A statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, said the kidnapping kingpin, Isa Dei-Dei, and his gang members opened fire on the IRT operatives upon sighting them approaching his hideout.

Adejobi said, โ€œAt about 10.15 am on February 5, 2024, operatives of the DFI-IRT, acting on intelligence, got information on the hideout of a notorious bandit group in the suburb of the FCT, led by one Isa Dei-Dei, and immediately proceeded to the location for possible arrest.

โ€œUpon closing in on them, they sighted the police and fled.

โ€œThe operatives immediately went after them, which led to a fierce gun duel.

โ€œIn the process, the notorious Isa Dei-Dei was neutralised while other members of the syndicate managed to escape with gunshot injuries.

โ€œWe therefore urge members of the public, most especially medical practitioners, to call our attention to anyone or patients seen with gunshot wounds for further investigation.โ€ (Vanguard)
