The Nigeria Police Force, FCT Command said it will commence the enforcement of ban on tinted glasses and covering of number plate.
FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Disu stated this while parading some suspects arrested for various crimes in the nation’s capital on Tuesday.
The police commissioner said 296 vehicles have been impounded for violations such as the use of tinted glasses, driving with only one plate number and the use of concealed or defaced number plates. Read more

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency has reported the rescue of four accident victims on Monday evening.
The agency’s Permanent Secretary, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed this in a statement issued on Tuesday in Lagos.

The House of Representatives on Tuesday directed the Central Bank of Nigeria(CBN) to stop the implementation of the retirement of 1,000 staff and the associated payoff scheme until the conclusion of an investigation.
Leading the debate on the motion, Kama Nkemkama (LP, Ebonyi) drew attention to media reports indicating that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) plans to retire over 1,000 staff across various levels as part of its restructuring process under the Acting Governor’s leadership.
The Rep members decided to probe the mass retirement of over 1,000 CBN staff to assess the criteria, process, and legality of the exercise. Read more
Defamation: Lagos-based pastor apologises to Pastor Enenche, wife (Tribune)
A Lagos-based prophet, Godwin Ikuru, has issued a public apology for allegedly defaming and cyberbullying Dr Paul Enenche, the Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, and his wife, Dr Becky Enenche.
Earlier, Prophet Ikuru had made disparaging comments about Pastor Enenche and his wife via his social media pages.
In a public apology published on a national daily, Ikuru expressed regret for his defamatory comments directed at the couple, acknowledging that his words were not only misleading but also damaging and completely unacceptable. Read more

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons on Tuesday, denied barring investigative journalist, ‘Fisayo Soyombo, from seeing a baby he had rescued from an orphanage home suspected of illicit baby trafficking.
NAPTIP’s Lagos Zonal Commander, Mrs. Comfort Agboko, argued this on Arise News’ flagship programme, The Morning Show, in Lagos on Tuesday.
Agboko said the agency “did not shut him out” but only asked the investigative journalist to “write to NAPTIP for us to facilitate the process of seeing the baby.” Read more
Reps to Tinubu: Unfreeze NSIPA’s accounts in 72 hours (DailyTrust)
The House Representatives on Tuesday urged President Bola Tinubu to mandate the Minister of Finance and the Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, to ensure that all frozen accounts of the National Social Investment Programmes Agency (NSIPA) are unfrozen within 72 hours to enable the smooth recommencement of all the agency’s programmes.
The House also resolved that the minister should ensure the release of funds to NSIPA for the payment of outstanding stipends owed to 395,731 N-Power beneficiaries nationwide without further delay.
The House urged the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Nentawe Yilwatda, to ensure that all the administrative bottlenecks hindering the smooth operations of all programmes of NSIPA are immediately removed. Read more

Officers from Zone 2 Command, Lagos, have arrested human rights lawyer, Dele Farotimi following a defamation petition filed by a complainant.
Sources revealed that the petition alleged that Farotimi made defamatory statements against the complainant in a public forum.
Earlier, Farotimi had raised concerns about alleged threats to his life, accusing Nigerian elites of collaborating with security agencies and legal practitioners to intimidate him. Read more

South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol declared an “emergency martial law,” Tuesday accusing the country’s opposition of controlling the parliament, sympathizing with North Korea and paralyzing the government with anti-state activities.
Yoon made the announcement during a televised briefing, vowing to “eradicate pro-North Korean forces and protect the constitutional democratic order.” It wasn’t immediately clear how the steps would affect the country’s governance and democracy.

The family of Kelaia Turner from South Carolina are suing her teachers and school after she was found hanging in her bedroom last March. Paramedics struggled to find a pulse or heartbeat for eight minutes before she was revived, and the suicide attempt has left her with severe brain damage. Read more

It was crumby for chef Tommy Banks when his van containing $30,000 worth of pies was stolen, but Michelin-starred chef has appealed to the thieves to donate them to people in need.
“I know you’re a criminal, but maybe just do something nice because it’s Christmas and maybe we can feed a few thousand people with these pies that you’ve stolen, do the right thing,” Banks said in an Instagram video Monday, shortly after they were taken.
The refrigerated van was filled with 2,500 pies with a variety of fillings including steak and ale, turkey and butternut squash, Banks said. Read more

Australian tennis great Neale Fraser dies at 91 (UPI)
Australian tennis legend Neale Fraser, who won three Grand Slam singles crowns and was part of four Davis Cup title teams as a player and another four as a captain, has died, Tennis Australia said. He was 91.
“Australian tennis has lost one of its giants with the passing of Neale Fraser,” Tennis Australia said Monday in a news release.
Tennis Australia did not disclose Fraser’s cause of death. Read more

Head Coach Bankole Olowookere has called 25 players to the camp of Nigeria’s U17 women national team, Flamingos ahead of the WAFU B U17 Girls’ Cup competition taking place in Ghana, 12th – 26th December 2024.

FIA seeks rule changes after president allegations (BBC)
Motorsport’s governing body wants to change its rules to limit the ways its leadership can be held to account for bad governance.
A set of revisions to the statutes governing the audit and ethics committees has been circulated to member clubs to be approved at a vote of the FIA general assembly on 13 December.
These would ensure that any ethics complaints were overseen by the FIA president and president of its senate, rather than the senate itself. Read more

Toto Wolff has reignited his feud with FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem after the head of motorsport’s world governing body said Formula One’s drivers should “stick to racing” and added it was “none of their business” how he ran his organisation.
Ben Sulayem had been asked about the recent spate of high-profile dismissals at the FIA, including that of Formula One race director Niels Wittich, and whether they had led to “turmoil” within the governing body.
The Emirati, 63, was also asked before Sunday’s Qatar Grand Prix about a recent letter from the Grand Prix Drivers Association demanding that he starts treating F1’s drivers “like adults” and asking for “transparency” about where the money from their fines went. Read more
