Poor Mr Ibu, the rich but poverty-stricken comedian

It’s a poor man who when he dies his children are immediately up in arms against one another for their father’s wealth…we have seen too many of that among the rich …pray what will the children of the poor man fight over when he dies?

But it’s a poorer man still, who on his sick bed has a whole family fighting over his money.

Reading about Mr Ibu is pitiful.

Before he had cause to have one of his legs amputated to save his life, I doubt that Mr. Ibu, popular as he was, had N300,000,000 in his bank account. He had enough, I guess to build a house at some point and buy “cars” for his wife…Stella Maries, who at that time was reported to be his 5th wife…things fell apart after that but…

It was shortly after all that noise about him that stories began to emerge of his sickness…he claimed at that time that his wife may have been responsible for poisoning him. I am not sure which wife it was, number 2 or number 5.

He was sick for a long while and then a few people came together to ask rich and not-so-rich Nigerians, who can spare a few thousand nairas and more. And before we knew it, Mr. Ibu was rich, so rich his family, wife, adopted daughter, sons…lost their home training and began to expose Mr. Ibu’s bedridden butt!

Like the Fuji House of Commotion where nothing makes sense, Mr. Ibu’s amputated leg did not become his undoing; it was the money reportedly raised for his health by well-meaning Nigerians that exposed the rot in his home.

His dirtiest underwear was brought out in the full glare of social media and brandished for all to see. A few began to regret the money they gave if it was going to tear his family apart.

No one heeded the fact that mentally, emotionally, psychologically and even physically, Mr. Ibu was being hurt by the mess in his family.

The filth is enough to consume the man and make anyone keel over.

His wife claimed she had no access to the donations given to her husband; it’s curious she had to come to social media to make such an announcement. But perhaps she had said it in the confines of her husband’s hospital room, said it in the confines of her home, said it at the offices of the people managing her husband’s business, and when they didn’t listen to her, she climbed the ladder and blasted it on social media and sure enough, she got our attention.

The reported N300 million…donation can make anyone go crazy, I agree but…

I didn’t think she should have direct access to such funds especially if she had not been a party to the committee, which reports said was set up when things began to go bad for the ailing actor.

But we can always argue that she is his wife after all. If there are any donations made to her husband, she should not only be privy to these but also have a say in how it is managed on her husband’s health.

But this is stupendous money, right?

Mrs. Iba had done the calculations, give or take, N100 million spent on her husband and they would still have a cool N200 million to gaze at. What a fortune!

But we will never know the actual figures, what we know is the money is “bastard money,” way beyond the wildest dreams of those involved with Mr. Ibu.

After Mrs. Ibu squealed about not having access, Jasmine, her rival, …errm, I mean, her husband’s adopted daughter lashed back.

Jasmine, who had hitherto had been accused by Mrs Ibu of sleeping with her husband was accused by Mrs. Ibu of having ulterior motives over the donation. But Jasmine let us know that

It was not love that made Mrs. Ibu squeal, it was the fact that she wanted to splurge on a Brazilian butt lift!

Oh well, maybe Mrs. Ibu had seen her husband’s wandering eye rest too long on other women’s butts and she wanted to give him something to jiggy over when he recovered. A legitimate reason for a butt lift if there ever was one.

But the mud-slinging didn’t stop at who was sleeping with who in the Ibu House of Commotion, it descended to distasteful stories of Mr. Ibu himself at some point, reported to have accused his wife, Stella Maries of sleeping with his son.

Eeeww!

I bet at that time, the many generous Nigerians who gave money began to regret their offering. Before we knew it, the actor’s sons and his manager were invited by the police to state what they were doing with the money meant for Mr. Ibu’s treatment.

Aww crap!

Like I said, it’s “bastard money!” A

No one cared much about Mr. Ibu, who I know must be hearing, and reading about the fight over money donated for his well-being, being the cause of commotion in his family.

Having survived multiple surgeries plus the amputation of his leg, I honestly hope Mr. Ibu will recover fast enough to go home and enjoy the rest of his life in peace…with what is left of the money. Let’s hope he doesn’t get so sick again as to require soliciting for funds because I tell you, no one’s going to give a dime and it won’t be because they don’t want to give Mr. Ibu, they just wouldn’t want to start another round of commotion.

Here’s wishing Mr Ibu “soonest recover.”
