African Table Tennis king, Nigeria’s Aruna Quadri will have to wait till 2021 before he and women defending champion, Egyptian Dina Meshref will defend their titles.
This is because the championships, the ITTF-Africa Senior Championships, billed to hold in Cameroon in October has been postponed till 2021 with dates yet to be decided.
The postponement was occasioned by the Coronavirus pandemic that is raving the world, Africa inclusive.
The ITTF-Africa in a statement signed by its president, Khaled El-Salhy, stated that the championships which serve as the continental qualification for the World Championships, became necessary owing COVID-19 pandemic which has halted sporting activities globally. (Independent)
