Robbers attack passengers on BRT bus in daylight (Punch)
Men of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Corps on Friday botched a robbery attack on passengers of a BRT bus, arresting two suspects – Kenechukwu Chukwuka and Adam Isiak.
The suspects, six of whom are still at large, reportedly boarded the bus from Tollgate, Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, Ogun State, en route to Oshodi around 7.30am.
It was gathered that the assailants suddenly brought out weapons on reaching Ijaiye area and started beating up the passengers.

Lagos, power holding company to scale up electricity supply (Independent)
Lagos State Government says it will partner with Niger Delta Power Holding Company to increase power supply in the state.
Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu said this on Friday when officials of Niger Delta Power Holding Company paid him a visit at Lagos House, Ikeja.
Sanwo-Olu said that the collaboration was necessary in view of the importance and strategic role the company could play at ensuring energy provision for Lagos State. Read more
Army dismisses Operation Positive Identification (Nation)
The Nigerian Army has described as mischievous, reports that it will commence a nationwide exercise code-named Operation Positive Identification, which will require Nigerians to show proof of their citizenship to soldiers who will be deployed across the states for the reported operation.
The Acting Director Nigerian Army Public Relations, Colonel Sagir Musa, said the report emanated from a fictitious group, Bricks company, which he said does not have anything to do with the Army.
The Army spokesperson in a statement: “Following the widespread apprehension on the purported Nigerian Army (NA) operation positive identification from 1 November to 23 December 2019, as mischievously peddled on the social media by a hitherto unknown and fictitious organization the so called Bricks company, which alleges that the NA will conduct the operation and went ahead to state how the operation will be conducted by the Army. Buhari leaves Makkah for UK on 2-week private visit (Guardian)
President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday departed Makkah via Abdulaziz International Airport Jeddah for the United Kingdom after he successfully performed the Lesser Hajj.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the President left Makkah for Jeddah at about 1.30pm (local time) while his presidential aircraft took-off for London at exactly 3.05 pm.

Google to purchase fitness tracker Fitbit in multibillion-dollar deal (Vanguard)
Alphabet, the parent company of Google, has reached an agreement to purchase Fitbit, a leading maker of fitness trackers, the company said on Friday.
Google will pay $7.35 per share in cash for Fitbit, a price that values the company at about $2.1 billion.
The purchase will pit Alphabet against Apple, whose Apple Watch is the worldwide leader in wearable fitness tracking devices. Read more

Hoodlums disarm, injure 4 policemen at checkpoint (ThisDay)
Four policemen are reportedly lying critically ill in an undisclosed hospital following an attack by suspected hoodlums at a checkpoint they mounted at Bonsac Junction, Asaba area on the Benin-Asaba-Onitsha Expressway.
The policemen, who are attached to the Delta State Police Command, were also said to have been dispossessed of two AK-47 rifles and two other guns by the hoodlums before disappearing.

Ekiti set for inaugural Ikogosi 10km race (ThisDay)
The stage is set for the 1st Ikogosi Road Race scheduled to hold December 14 in Ekiti State.
The 10km race themed “Ekitikete Lets Run” is organised under the Ikogosi Marathon initiative and is expected to feature over 5, 000 runners with the male and female winners getting N 1m each. The second to fifth finishers in the male and women will each get 500, 000, 300, 000, 100, 000 and 50, 000 respectively while others in the top 10 will also get varying cash prizes.
