Roger Federer and his wife Mirka have donated one million Swiss Francs (£857,000) to the ‘most vulnerable families in Switzerland’, insisting that ‘nobody should be left behind’.

Tennis superstar Federer, who is currently recovering from knee surgery, hopes that others will follow their lead to ‘overcome this crisis’ by pledging financial support.

‘These are challenging times for everyone and nobody should be left behind,’ the 20-time Grand Slam champion said.
