Roger Federer suggested Chris Kermode could return to the ‘mix’ to stay on as men’s tennis chief beyond 2019 after Justin Gimelstob’s exit from the ATP board.
Gimelstob was a key mover in ousting the ATP president from his role despite facing felony battery charges in Los Angeles after assaulting venture capitalist Randall Kaplan but his no contest plea and subsequent departure as a players representative on the board has reopened the debate over whether Kermode should be afforded a fresh vote regarding his future.
While Federer is unsure of Kermode’s intentions, the 37-year-old Swiss believes it’s an option that should be put back on the table.
‘Yeah, I haven’t thought about it really a whole lot, about Chris’s situation because I saw it in isolation,’ he said ahead of his clay-court return at the Madrid Open. Read more
