Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, earlier today, Friday, March 5, cut the tape to open the new Agege-Pen Cinema Bridge to traffic.
Former governor of the state, Akinwunmi Ambode, began work on the 1.4 kilometre bridge before he left office and it was completed by the current administration.
“The project has a 1.4km bridge network of roads and signalised traffic junctions which will ease traffic around Agege and connect it to other parts of the state,” said a post on the state’s Twitter handle @followlasg.
While inspecting the construction works at the bridge last December, Sanwo-Olu had said the bridge would be ready by February 2021.
Officers of the Lagos State Police Command were on ground early in the day to provide security for the ceremony as could be gleaned from the command’s Twitter handle.
Of course, social media was agog with people from all walks of life commenting on the commissioning event.
The overpass ascends from Oba Ogunji Road and drops at the Oke Koto axis of Agege. The bridge also opens to the old Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway through Abule Egba.
