Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing his death as a colossal loss to Nigeria.
In a condolence message issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, the Governor praised Buhari as a transparent, courageous, and honest leader who genuinely loved Nigeria and contributed immensely to her development.
Sanwo-Olu extended his condolences to the immediate family of the late President, President Bola Tinubu, and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), mourning the loss of one of the party’s founding leaders.
“On behalf of my wife, Ibijoke, the people, and the government of Lagos State, I mourn the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, one of Nigeria’s most prominent military and political leaders.
“He was a disciplined and passionate leader whose commitment to Nigeria’s growth and unity remains worthy of emulation. His leadership was marked by honesty, courage, and transparency.
“From serving as Military Governor and Minister of Petroleum Resources to leading Nigeria as Head of State and later as a democratically elected President, Buhari dedicated the greater part of his life to national service.
“My thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Hajia Aisha Buhari, his family, friends, political associates, and the people of Katsina and Daura. May his soul rest in peace, and may God grant Nigerians the strength to bear this loss,” the statement concluded.
