Sanwo-Olu to actualise purpose for LASRRA’s creation (Nation)
The importance of efficient planning and allocation of resources in any organised society cannot be underestimated and should be taken with all seriousness, Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has said.
He said the creation of Lagos State Residents’ Registration Agency (LASRRA) is for data capturing, which would later be translated to building database of people who reside in the state.
He made spoke in Lagos through the agency’s General Manager, Engr. (Mrs.) Ibilola Kasunmu during a fact finding meeting with all the Divisional Supervisors and Station Managers of Local Council Development Areas in the state. Read more

Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has based the 2020 budget funding of education, health and infrastructure on the proposed increase of Value Added Tax from 5% to 7.5%.
“The 2020 appropriation being presented today is predicated in the following parameters: Benchmark Oil Price $57 Production: 2.18m bpd FX: N305/$ Proposed increase of VAT from 5% to 7.5%,” Buhari said while presenting the 2020 budget to the National Assembly

Sexual Harassment: Kano court remands lecturer (Independent)
A Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Kano on Tuesday ordered the remand of a 36-year-old lecturer, Ali Shehu, in prison custody for breach of trust and sexually harassing his female student.
The accused, a lecturer of Kano State School of Technology, is facing trial on a two-count charge of breach of official trust and attempt to commit an offence, contrary to Sections 95 and 98 of the Penal Code. Read more

UNILAG graduate steals 30-day old baby in Ogun (Leadership)
Men of the Ogun State police command have arrested former student of the University of Lagos, Olakunle Agbaje for stealing a 30-day old baby in the state.
The 39-years old Agbaje, who claimed to have graduated with a BSc. in Business Administration from the prestigious Akoka varsity, allegedly committed the crime last Saturday at Adesan area of Mowe, in the Obafemi – Owode local government area of the state.
LEADERSHIP gathered that the suspect had left his house located at Dennis in the Arigbawonwo area, about three streets away from the place where he committed the crime, sneaked into the room where he stole the baby boy laid beside his mother who was already sleeping around 9p.m. Read more
Rwanda deports controversial US evangelist (Guardian)
Rwanda said Tuesday that a controversial American missionary, who was arrested for calling an illegal public meeting with journalists, has been deported.
Gregg Schoof, a Baptist, has been operating in Rwanda since 2003, mainly through his church and a radio station, Amazing Grace FM, which was shut last year over a sermon calling women “evil” and “prostitutes”. Read more
Asim Umar: Al-Qaeda’s South Asia chief ‘killed in Afghanistan’ (BBC)
A top al-Qaeda leader was killed in a joint US-Afghan military operation last month, says Afghanistan’s intelligence agency.
Asim Umar, the head of al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS), died in a raid on a Taliban compound in Helmand province on 23 September, the National Directorate of Security (NDS) said.
At least 40 civilians were reported to have been killed in the same operation. Read more

A No 10 source has said a Brexit deal is “essentially impossible” after a call between the PM and Angela Merkel.
Boris Johnson and the German chancellor spoke earlier about the proposals he put forward to the EU – but the source said she made clear a deal based on them was “overwhelmingly unlikely”.
The BBC’s Adam Fleming said there was “scepticism” within the EU that Mrs Merkel would have used such language. Read more

An Ohio homeowner is busy cleaning up after a large goat broke into her home by ramming through a sliding glass door and then settling down for a nap in a bathroom.
The Ashland Times-Gazette reports Logan Keathley returned to his family’s Sullivan Township home Friday to find their German Shepherd agitated and the house reeking. That’s when he discovered “Big Boy,” a goat who had escaped from a farm several miles away, napping in a bathroom. Read more
