The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has extended an invitation to Korean investors to explore more opportunities in Nigeriaโs commercial hub, Lagos.
Speaking during a meeting with the Consul General of the Republic of Korea, Lee Sang Ho, and other Korean officials at the State House in Marina, on Thursday, Sanwo-Olu emphasised the importance of strengthening the existing relationship between Lagos and various Korean companies operating in the state.
Acknowledging the contributions of major Korean businesses already established in Lagos, Sanwo-Olu expressed his gratitude to the Consul General for the smooth cooperation between the two entities.
โLagos remains a preferred destination for businesses. We continue to create an enabling environment where businesses can grow, and thrive, and weโll continue to create a mutually beneficial relationship, government-to-government or government-to-business or business-to-government relationship,โ Sanwo-Olu said.
Sanwo-Olu also touched on the potential for expanding partnerships in various sectors, particularly technology. He noted that Nigeriaโs young population possesses the skills to compete globally, with technology being a critical area for growth in Africa.
โWhatever it is that you require in terms of climate and business environment, in terms of ensuring that we have a conducive interaction or exchange, weโre willing to do that,โ he added.
While speaking, the Consul General acknowledged the support of the government for Korean nationals in the state.
He said, โMy visit is long overdue because since I arrived in Lagos last year, I have been longing for this kind of meeting to consolidate the relationship between the Korean Embassy in Lagos and the Lagos State Government. I have personally observed that Korea and Nigeria, especially in Lagos, and then Korea, share many unique similarities. For example, the metropolitan nature, and the people are vibrant and energetic, and then the rich cultural heritage.
โNowadays, around 100 Korean nationals are residing in Lagos, including Korean businessmen, like those in the engineering company, the construction engineering company, and Samsung Heavy Industry, Samsung Electronics, and LG Electronics. I have heard from the people that they have a lot of support from Lagos State.
